Historic center and architectural heritage

Via Arduino is a significant urban-planning and architectural example of Cuorgnè's old commercial district. Almost the entire Via Arduino is lined with arcades, that is, covered passageways along the street frontage; the best-preserved arcades feature characteristic widened arches. The arcades thus shape the historic street frontage of Via Arduino over an extended stretch.

In some places, the characteristic cobblestones with which the central street was once completely paved are still visible on Via Arduino.

The Chiesa di San Giovanni stands in the center of Cuorgnè's borgo. It was the church of the Confraternita della Misericordia and was also known as San Giovanni Decollato. Documents from 1378 attest to the existence of the Chiesa di San Giovanni. The present building dates from the early 17th century. It has a single-nave layout, that is, a central church space without side aisles, and two Baroque side altars.

The Torre Quadrata is also part of the historic townscape. The Torre Quadrata was built between 1330 and 1380 as a tower taller than the round tower. In 1469, the Torre Quadrata was transferred to the municipality. Later, the Torre Quadrata was used for the town bell and clock.

Archaeological heritage in the Salto district

Grotta Boira Fusca is an archaeological site in the Salto district of Cuorgnè. In the 1970s, Boira Fusca was the first cave in which prehistoric remains dating from the Lower Paleolithic, an early Stone Age period, through the Bronze Age came to light.

Trailheads and landscape

The section of the Sentiero del Gallo that concerns Cuorgnè begins in the Ronchi Maddalena district. The Sentiero del Gallo runs along paths and unpaved tracks through forests and clearings. When preparing for a hike, this mix of trail surfaces is a concrete factor in choosing footwear. Unpaved tracks and paths require a different assessment of the ground than a continuously paved road surface. When hiking in Cuorgnè, you can base your footwear choice in your day planning for the Sentiero del Gallo on the unpaved tracks and on the transition between forests and clearings.

The Percorso CAI 421 begins in the Santa Lucia district of Cuorgnè. There is a small parking area there with benches and an information board. The Percorso CAI 421 is also the traditional ascent route to the Sacro Monte of the Cuorgnè community. The two trailheads are not identical: the section of the Sentiero del Gallo that concerns Cuorgnè starts in Ronchi Maddalena, while the Percorso CAI 421 starts in Santa Lucia.
