Lago Delio and the mountain landscape

The section of the Sentiero Italia CAI through Musignano offers continuous views of the lake. The route leads through the village, while the view extends towards Lago Delio above. For hikers, the lake view stretches along the entire route on this section, not just at a single point.

Laghetto della Montagnola lies at an elevation of 899 m in a broad grassy depression and is an important biotope. The open depression gives the small lake its own distinctive landscape setting. Lago Delio and Laghetto della Montagnola thus represent two different bodies of water in the surroundings of Musignano.

Access to the lake and elevation profile of the trails

Access to Laghetto della Montagnola begins at the car park at the start of Val Inent, at an elevation of 819 m, between Musignano and Lago Delio. For planning purposes, it is important to regard this access point as a separate starting point and not equate it with the route of hiking trail no. 122. Anyone planning the route to the lake should therefore use the access road in Val Inent as their reference, rather than relying solely on the hiking trail designation.

On hiking trail no. 122, you first reach Montagnola at an elevation of 929 m and then Laghetto della Montagnola at an elevation of 899 m. Montagnola is therefore 30 m higher than Laghetto della Montagnola. The sequence thus leads from the higher point down to the small lake below.

The Sentiero Italia CAI climbs towards Pianca, Sarangio and Musignano at an elevation of 760 m. It then descends from Musignano towards Bassano at an elevation of 540 m. For hikers, the change from ascent to descent at Musignano is the decisive difference within this described route.

Chiesa di San Bernardino and local history

The Chiesa di San Bernardino in Musignano is primarily of historical value and is regarded as a symbol of the village’s religious identity. The bell tower of the Chiesa di San Bernardino in Musignano has a wall clock that was conservatively restored.

The central altarpiece of the Chiesa di San Bernardino was reproduced by Marco Catenazzi together with his father Mario after the original was stolen. For visitors interested in culture, the focus is therefore not only on the building itself but also on the specific history of this altarpiece.

Archaeological traces and wooden sculptures

In the village of Canicc, archaeological traces from Roman times, including graves and coins, were discovered during the construction of new bends for the road. The discovery is connected to the new road bends in Canicc and complements Musignano’s ecclesiastical historical references with an archaeological site.

Several wooden sculptures by local artist Fabio Maccario stand along the road from Musignano to Lago Delio. Their placement therefore follows the specific road connection between Musignano and Lago Delio. Visitors interested in culture will find another locally specific connection to the history and art around Musignano along this route.
