The cross-border ski area
The Breuil-Cervinia–Valtournenche–Zermatt ski area extends across three valleys and two countries and comprises more than 360 kilometres of slopes. The Breuil-Cervinia ski area is connected to the slopes of Valtournenche and the Swiss slopes of Zermatt. This connection makes the geographical scope of the offering clear: Breuil-Cervinia is the location, while the ski area extends across several valleys and into Switzerland.
This distinction is helpful when planning different days. The extensive network of slopes represents skiing across a large area, while other mountain or resort destinations have their own particular focus.
Plateau Rosà: panorama, Ice Cave and mountain history
From the terrace at the cable-car station on Plateau Rosà, you can view the great 4,000-metre peaks from close up. From Plateau Rosà, the Ice Cave can be reached on foot through a 50-metre-long tunnel at a depth of 15 metres.
The “A Mountain of Work” museum is also located on Plateau Rosà at an altitude of 3,500 metres. Using photographs and equipment, it documents the construction of the Plateau Rosà and Furggen cable cars.
High-altitude hiking and trails around Cervinia
High-altitude hiking in Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche offers trails for all levels of difficulty. The ski lifts can be used to shorten the approach. The hiking options are therefore not aimed at just one level of experience; the documented range extends from easier to more challenging trails.
From Cervinia, a trail leads to the dam of Lake Goillet in about 40 minutes.
Lago Blu and the Matterhorn reflection
Lago Blu is fed by spring water, is always very clear and allows the Matterhorn to be reflected on its surface. From the centre of Breuil-Cervinia, the lake is about a 30-minute walk or a few minutes by car. This provides you with a destination clearly connected to the town centre, while the other high-altitude destinations have different starting points.
Golf and Bike Park del Cervino
The golf course of Golf Club del Cervino is an 18-hole course whose layout begins at the centre of Breuil-Cervinia. Its connection to the centre distinguishes it from the mountain destinations and makes it an independent activity within the townscape.
In the area around the permanent glaciers of Plateau Rosà, Bike Park del Cervino consists of a diverse network of trails specifically created for bikers. The golf course, Lago Blu, the museum and the hiking trails offer different focuses alongside the range of ski slopes. Which activity is suitable for your group depends on the desired focus and the particular route.
