Valpelline between Cuisine and Mountain Landscapes
Seupa à la Vapelenentse is a traditional dish particularly associated with the Valpelline area. It is prepared with stale white bread, Fontina, butter, a rich broth and savoy cabbage. In the village of Valpelline, the traditional Seupa à la Vapelenentse festival takes place every year on the last weekend of July. For your travel planning, the last weekend of July is a fixed date in Valpelline’s annual calendar. The Seupa festival on the last weekend of July and the celebration at the Cappella di San Rocco on 16 August are two different dates.

The Centro Visitatori Valpelline is located in the Frissonière hamlet at an altitude of 1,147 metres above sea level. The Centro Visitatori Valpelline offers guided tours of its ageing cellar, which must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. History and Festivals
The Casaforte La Tour de Valpelline is currently not open to visitors. In La Fabrique in Valpelline, the remains of the former copper smelting works are still visible.
Every year on 16 August, the community gathers at the Cappella di San Rocco in Semon to celebrate San Rocco. The Fiera di Valpelline, Fea de Vapeleunna, originated as a livestock market and is now a showcase for typical products from the Aosta Valley. The fair thus brings together a historical origin and the present-day presentation of typical products.
Routes through Nature and the Mining Area
The route to Becca di Viou from Valpelline leads through woodland, across the middle pastures and finally into the wild valley towards Lago d'Arpisson. For hikers, the focus on this route is the changing surroundings rather than a single type of landscape. For hike planning, the woodland, middle pastures and wild valley form three successive sections on the way to Lago d'Arpisson.
Fishing in the Buthier near Valpelline is regulated and requires special permits.
The Parco giochi di Valpelline is located on the Sentiero del Rame near the historic smelting works and combines recreation with historical learning in a natural setting. The Sentiero del Rame leads through tunnels, mining buildings, ore-smelting facilities, play and adventure parks, museums and information points in the mining area of Ollomont and Valpelline.
