Trails to six bridges and Ratus Gorge
The Passeggiata dei sei ponti is a short circular trail with beautiful views of the old bridges and the rivers of Pontboset. Most of the bridges on the circular trail can be seen from points accessible by paved roads. The combination of the circular trail and accessible viewpoints allows you to focus on walking or on viewing the bridges.
You can reach Ratus Gorge exclusively on foot via a hiking trail. The path to Ratus Gorge follows the Ayasse and reaches a long bridge that crosses the Brenve below the gorge.
Views from the Santuario di Retempio and sacred sites in Pontboset
The Santuario di Retempio offers views over large parts of the Champorcher Valley as well as the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. The Santuario di Retempio is a chapel dedicated to Nostra Signora della Visitazione and San Rocco.
The processions to the Santuario di Retempio take place on 2 July, the feast day of Nostra Signora della Visitazione, and on 16 August for the feast of San Rocco. Both processions begin early in the morning at the parish church and lead to the sanctuary. The parish church of San Grato stands at the entrance to the hamlet of Pontboset; its altar and frescoes can be seen there.
Villages, stone bridges, Barmelle and La Borney
Pontboset has six Romanesque-style stone bridges. The six stone bridges were originally built in the 17th century during the rule of the noble family of Bard. An old path made of stone steps leads to the village of Barmelle.
La Borney is a completely abandoned village with around ten houses and an adjoining church. La Borney is located in an area cleared to create pastureland.
Ciclovia and stage of the Cammino Balteo from Pontboset
The Ciclovia Valle di Champorcher e Val Soana begins in the main village of Pontboset and leads to the municipality of Champorcher. At Col Laris, the Ciclovia Valle di Champorcher e Val Soana opens onto Val Soana.
Stage 23 of the Cammino Balteo also leads from Pontboset via HĂ´ne, Bard and Donnas to Pont-Saint-Martin. When planning, the Ciclovia and stage 23 of the Cammino Balteo should be distinguished from each other.
Kayaking, canyoning and free climbing
The three activities are spread across the Ayasse and Brenve rivers and the climbing facility in Terrisse. You can go kayaking along the Ayasse River in Pontboset. You can go canyoning in the waters of the Brenve River in Pontboset.
There is a climbing facility in the village of Terrisse for enthusiasts of free climbing.
