Pescocostanzo in winter: snowpark, ski school and culture

The Pesco Swup Snowpark is also accessible to the public on foot from the base of the lift facilities. It has three lines of varying difficulty: an L/M line, an S line and a jib line. For your planning, this primarily means a clear distinction based on sporting ability. Those travelling with people of different skill levels can use the available lines as a targeted guide when planning their day, without having to limit everyone's interests to the same type of use.

Winter sports and practical day planning

The winter sports offering also includes the Scuola Sci Pescocostanzo 3000. The ski school offers freeride and freestyle courses. You should regard the two terms as different areas of focus: what matters is which format suits your own plans and your particular ability level.

There is an important restriction to note regarding transport. The ski bus service is exclusively for ski school customers and operates between their accommodation and the ski slopes. When organising a trip with children, equipment or different daily schedules, you should therefore plan this service as a connection linked to the ski school. It does not constitute a general service for all guests in Pescocostanzo. This limitation is one of the practical points that should be taken into account before choosing accommodation and planning daily routes, especially when several people with different interests are travelling together.

Art and sacred history in the town

In addition to its winter sports attractions, Pescocostanzo offers several specific points of interest for those interested in culture. The Museo della Basilica in the Collegiata Santa Maria del Colle preserves goldsmith's work, sculptures and sacred furnishings from the church.

The Museo del merletto a tombolo displays antique lace from private collections and ecclesiastical furnishings, including pieces from the 18th century.

The churches themselves also showcase different historical features. The Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio dei Morti has a 17th-century portal, a wooden coffered ceiling and a walnut altar completed by Ferdinando Mosca in 1716. The Church of Sant'Antonio Abate originated in the 13th century and stands on the original settlement of Pescocostanzo, which is called Peschio or Pesco.

The former Santa Scolastica monastery was built in 1624 based on a design by Cosimo Fanzago.

Traditional crafts and regional character

The traditional crafts of Pescocostanzo that are still practised include filigree goldsmithing, bobbin lace, the working of wrought iron for household items and wood carving.

Forest and hiking trail

The Bosco di Sant'Antonio is considered a biodiversity hotspot in the Majella National Park and features centuries-old beeches and maples.

The Sentiero O1 begins in Pescocostanzo, runs across open meadows on the eastern slope of Monte Rotella and reaches the Bosco di Sant'Antonio after crossing the S.P. 55.
