Natural Areas and Hiking Destinations

Parts of the Duna-Ipoly National Park lie within the administrative boundaries of Tahitótfalu. Pánkúti legelő and Kecske-sziget form a nature reserve. Both the national park and these two named places are therefore useful points of reference when planning a stay in the area.

A described hiking route from Tahitótfalu follows the Ugró Stream to the Leány-kút spring. A route to the Hétvályús-forrás spring crosses the Villám Stream. Another hiking route described from Tahitótfalu reaches Vörös-kő; according to the route description, the site offers panoramic views of Szentendre Island and the Danube Valley. The named streams, springs and lookout point give these hikes different destinations. Trail conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Cycling Routes and Their Destinations

The cycling routes differ in their markings, direction and destination. A green-marked route leads from Tahitótfalu through the Kalicsa Valley and reaches Dunabogdány after about 3 km. A blue-marked route runs south from Tahitótfalu along the main road to the neighbouring municipality of Pócsmegyer, Lake Pázsit and the ferry between Pócsmegyer and Leányfalu. A red-marked cycling route leads to Pap-rét after about 4 km; a hiking trail marked as the National Blue Trail also runs along this section.

The green and red routes each give an approximate distance to their destination; the blue route can be identified by its southerly direction and the named places along the way. This lets you choose among the cycling options described based on the destination that interests you. Markings and trail conditions may change, so check the current situation before setting off.

Churches and Architectural History

The architectural monuments listed in Tahitótfalu include the remains of a castellum (burgus). The Roman Catholic Church of St Stephen is considered an Empire-style church. Its predecessor was built in 1778, and the church has been remodelled several times since. The Reformed Church is a late Baroque building surrounded by a stone wall. It was built between 1801 and 1805, and its tower was constructed in 1855.

Pollack Mihály’s Szüreti ház was built at the beginning of the 19th century. The house was extended in the second half of the century and has displayed eclectic stylistic features ever since. The construction phases help distinguish the buildings by date: the construction of the Reformed Church and its tower are dated separately, while the later extension of the Szüreti ház is associated with its eclectic features. Together, these examples convey different aspects of local history, from a listed Roman monument to churches and a house with a later extension.
