Geographical location

Nagy-Sas-hegy, Baráthalom, Hajlékos Bérc, and Urak Asztala are located in the immediate vicinity of Dunabogdány. The highest elevation within the municipality is the 593-meter-high Urak asztala mountain in the southwest.

Archaeological excavations indicate that the area has been settled since the Copper Age. Dunabogdány was first documented in 1285 under the name Bogud; in the 14th century, the town is recorded as Bogdanryw.
