Csobánka lies in a basin bordered by Oszoly Peak, Csúcs-hegy, Kis-Kevély, Csobánkai Saddle, and Hosszú-hegy. Lom-hegy is located nearby. The surrounding area also includes Pilis, Kapitány-hegy, and Nagy-szénás. To the northwest of Csobánka rise the Pilis summit and Dobogó-kő; their elevations are 757 m and 700 m, respectively.

Culture and History
The Elizabeth Lookout is located in the area surrounding Csobánka. In the wider region are the Néprajzi Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, and Buda Castle.
Csobánka is considered a settlement founded in the Middle Ages; possible Celtic-Roman remains have also been mentioned. A fragment of a Roman-era gravestone is said to be visible in the garden of the Catholic church.
After the Ottoman period, Csobánka was resettled by Serbian settlers led by the Serbian Patriarch Arsenije Čarnojević. Viticulture flourished for centuries in Csobánka and neighboring Pomáz.
