Nature and Bodies of Water
Vogtlandsee is an artificial reservoir covering six hectares. It was created between 1935 and 1937 by damming the Roter Fluss and is described as the smallest reservoir in Vogtland. The Vogtland landscape also includes dams and reservoirs that offer opportunities for walks by the water.
Rehhübel, the Dragon's Cave, Runder Hübel, and Steinberg are located in the area around Vogtland. The city park is also nearby.
Culture and History
Voigtsberg Castle is located in the area around Vogtland. In the wider regional area are the Lower Castle of Greiz and the Upper Castle of Greiz.
The Vögte Cultural Trail is a 26-kilometer cycling route from Plauen via Weischlitz to Voigtsberg Castle. It follows the Elster Cycle Path and the historic traces of the Vögte.
The Lace Museum in Plauen displays products from the regional lace and textile industry and explains their historical development in production and design.
Views
Regional viewpoints include the Julius Mosen Tower, offering views of Pöhl Reservoir, and the Otto Hermann Böhm Observation Tower on the 936-meter-high Aschberg near Klingenthal.
