Nature
Mühlental offers a rural hiking landscape with extensive interconnected forest areas, diverse biotopes, and streams with adjoining banks that are considered natural and recreational areas.
The Vogtland Knollensteig trail runs mainly along paved forest and field paths; approximately 1 km follows a road. Free parking is available for this trail at Hundsgrün railway station and in Tirschendorf near the pond.
The 33-km Oelsnitz circular trail offers views across the municipalities of Oelsnitz, Mühlental, and Eichigt.
Geographical setting
Saalig is situated in a spring basin drained by a small valley toward the Eisenbach and has the settlement pattern of a Waldhufendorf, a forest-strip village. Oberwürschnitz has a traditional village character, with large farmsteads loosely grouped around the village pond.
Culture
The church in Unterwürschnitz is said to have already served as a fortified church in the 13th century. There are also numerous small residential farmhouses with clay half-timbering and Upper Lusatian house structures.
Hermsgrün is home to farmsteads with Upper Lusatian house structures, living rooms built using block construction, and half-timbered upper floors clad in wood. The Parish Church of Our Lady in Wohlbach was first documented in 1447. The Haartmühle cultural monument is located in Marieney.
Northeast of Tirschendorf stands a protected archaeological stone-cross stump. At the Wilfert Erlebnis-Ferienhof, around 200 varieties of potatoes are cultivated; potato tastings are available by prior appointment.
