Grünbach is located at the entrance to the Ore Mountains/Vogtland Nature Park and within the Upper Göltzsch Valley Nature Reserve. The Wendelstein rises near the town centre and is recommended for nature lovers and hikers. In the southern municipal area lies the Rehübelfelsen, a 780.2-metre-high geological natural monument with an overturned fold. The 7.5-kilometre Felsen circular trail takes in the Wendelstein, Lochstein, the White Göltzsch Valley, the Bastei and the Schwarzer Stein. A free folding map of the municipality lists 12 routes. Felsenweg 3b leads through the forests of the Geigenbach Valley and around Werda Reservoir. The 8-kilometre Rißfälle circular trail follows the Upper Floßgraben to the Riß Bridge and passes the Rißfälle waterfalls, Druckersmühle and a railway station.
