Oberahr: Hotels and Accommodations

Oberahr connects several specifically named paths and cycling routes. The main hiking trail III from Neuwied to Wetzlar leads through the village via Forststraße and Industriestraße. An asphalt cycle path leads from Oberahr’s northern exit to Ettinghausen, while local agricultural tracks serve as walking paths. Hiking routes run through dense forests and over gently rolling hills.

The area around Beulstein is also connected to the Aubachroute cycling network. The AHRound Tour (II) climbs from Niederahr to Oberahr and then continues to Ettinghausen. The route runs through picturesque villages and the natural landscape of the Westerwald.

Landscape

Beulstein reaches 483 meters and is the highest elevation in the Wallmerod collective municipality. The Oberahr hills and Beulstein are depicted in the coat of arms as a blue-and-gold triple-mountain symbol.

Culture

The wavy division in Oberahr’s coat of arms symbolizes the Ahrbach, which also gives the village its name. The coat of arms also depicts the church’s patron saint, Saint Blaise, with a golden crozier whose end terminates in a flame. Agriculture is symbolized by a golden ear of grain; the forest is symbolized by a golden beech leaf.

The central church was built in 1903 and is dedicated to Saint Blaise, one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. The Catholic subsidiary church is a neo-Romanesque rubble-stone hall church from the second half of the 19th century. Molsberg Castle is surrounded by an English-style landscaped garden.

The listed linear farmstead at Hauptstraße 14 includes a plastered half-timbered house that probably dates from the 17th or 18th century. The listed chapel southeast of Oberahr on the road to Meudt is a small rubble-stone building bearing the year 1865. The listed half-timbered barn at Hauptstraße 20 has a low extension and dates from the 18th or early 19th century.
