Museum and Historic Town Centre
The DampfLandLeute Museum is located in a side valley of Eslohe, a state-recognised climatic health resort. Its permanent exhibition covers agriculture, forestry, village crafts, folklore and technology. This gives you several themes to explore during a museum visit: you can learn about past working and living conditions as well as technological developments. If you want to give your stay a cultural focus, the exhibition offers a broad range of subjects rather than a single specialised topic.
From April to October, the DampfLandLeute Museum railway runs with a diesel locomotive on the first Saturday of every month from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. This set day of the week and time slot are useful when planning your visit. Historic steam engines are operated during Steam Days at least twice a year. These demonstrations are a separate attraction for technology enthusiasts; the diesel locomotive rides and Steam Days should be considered as distinct activities.
The historic town centre has half-timbered houses around St. Peter and Paul Parish Church that are about 200 years old. If you are interested in historic architecture, you can make the town centre another focus of your trip. Together with the subjects covered in the museum exhibition, this offers a cultural perspective on Eslohe without limiting your stay to just one era or topic.
Cycling Ring and Bike Parcours
Two different options are relevant for cyclists. The 84-kilometre SauerlandRadring connects Finnentrop, Eslohe, Schmallenberg and Lennestadt. Its length makes it a different planning option from a stay focused mainly on individual activities in the local area. However, the route length alone does not indicate a specific riding time or level of difficulty.
The Eslohe Bike Parcours at the Fun- & Sportanlage Eslohe has dirt lines, jumps in three difficulty levels, a flow trail and a large pump track. The three difficulty levels apply to the jumps. The features mentioned make this option distinct from a ride on the SauerlandRadring: here, the focus is on various features of the parcours, while the ring is an 84-kilometre route connecting four towns.
More Leisure Options and Comparing Locations
Eslohe has an indoor swimming pool and a heated outdoor pool. The two pools differ in their basic format: one is indoors, while the other is an outdoor pool with heated water.
