The town is located on the lower Sinn River, at the geographical boundary between the Spessart and Rhön regions. Around 80 percent of the municipality’s approximately 5,000-hectare area consists of extensive deciduous and mixed forests.

Culture and History

Burgsinn’s moated castle is a typical water castle. It is surrounded by a wide, water-filled moat fed by an underground spring. The complex is privately owned and cannot be visited. Along the castle circular trail, four information panels explain the history of the castle.

The Catholic parish church of St. Michael is known as the Sinntal Cathedral and contains the ceiling painting “The Fall of the Angels.” The Rieneck Gate is a preserved relic of Burgsinn’s former fortifications from the 15th century.

Other Trails and Traces

The 3-kilometer Burgsinn Trail of Traces begins at a parking area on the MSP 17 road.

Six structures along Route 46 have information panels. The panels cover the history of the autobahn, the living and working conditions of the workers, and historical construction techniques.

In the Main-Spessart region, the Route 46 Cultural Heritage Route is made accessible through adventure trails and a mountain biking route. The Route 46 mountain biking route is around 60 kilometers long, runs from Gössenheim to Rupboden, and connects the adventure trails with the information points.

Town
