Perlesreut: Hotels and Accommodation

The 68-kilometre-long Ilz is a river in the Bavarian Forest and forms part of one of Bavaria’s last wild river landscapes. Perlesreut is one of the main towns along the Ilz Valley Route.

Location

Perlesreut is a market town in the district of Freyung-Grafenau in Lower Bavaria. The town lies at approximately 546 metres above sea level, between the river valleys of the Ilz and Ohe, and is a state-recognised health resort.

Nature and Trails

The Goldsteig is a 660-kilometre certified quality hiking trail. It leads from Marktredwitz to Passau through the Bavarian Forest. In the Valley of the Mills, the nature trail runs as a circular route of just under 11 kilometres; approximately three hours are allocated for it.

A variant of the sixth stage of the Pandurensteig ends in Perlesreut after 4.5 kilometres from Heinrichsreit. From Perlesreut, another variant leads for four kilometres through hilly countryside before reaching the Ilz in the Ilz am Dießenstein nature reserve. In the town, the Pandurensteig also runs for around two kilometres along a paved footpath and cycle path to Kirchberg.

Leisure

The Ilztalperle offers barrier-free swimming and is considered Lower Bavaria’s first inclusive swimming pool. The intergenerational activity area includes play areas adapted to different age groups.

Townscape and Squares

Perlesreut’s street market is lined mainly with two-storey gabled houses. In Friedhofstraße, the town has a motorhome parking area; a campsite is located at Messerschmidmühle in Perlesreut.

Getting Around

At the northern entrance to the town, route RBO 6182 is listed on the Perlesreut–Ringelai–Freyung route. At the western edge of the town, route RBO 8663 is listed on the Passau–Fürsteneck–Perlesreut–Grafenau route.
