Hiking Trails by Length and Route Type
The Therapeutic Hiking Trail in the Pitztal is a 5.7-kilometre circular trail near Obertrubach. The Obertrubach Circular Trail is 7.6 kilometres long and marked with a “red circle.” The Obertrubach–Signalstein–Obertrubach Circular Trail is 10 kilometres long, starts in Obertrubach and is also a circular trail. In terms of distance, the 7.6-kilometre route falls between the other two circular trails.
Additional differences are relevant for the longer routes. The Trubach Trail “Geology – Culture – Climbing” is 10.9 kilometres long and considered moderately difficult. The Trubach Valley Hiking Trail from Obertrubach is a moderately difficult 20.6-kilometre hike; the ascent is 181 metres and the descent 336 metres. The Trubach Valley Hike is a 21-kilometre point-to-point hike from Obertrubach via Egloffstein to Pretzfeld. The two longest routes are close in length: the ascent and descent are also specified for the Trubach Valley Hiking Trail, while the sequence of places is given for the Trubach Valley Hike. This makes it possible to compare route length, elevation gain and loss, and destination separately. Check local trail conditions before setting out. The descent is 155 metres greater than the ascent.
Spring, Church and Chapel
At the entrance to Obertrubach, the Trubach spring emerges as a karst spring in several spring pools. The architecture of St. Lawrence’s Church also features a specific detail: the church tower in the church complex has an octagonal upper storey. West of Obertrubach is the 18th-century Plague Chapel. It can be reached via the hiking trail marked with a red circle. The local natural and cultural attractions thus bring together a distinctive spring formation, a striking tower feature and a historic chapel.
Climbing, Rock Vegetation and Mountain Biking
The Obertrubach Climbing Information Centre is an information facility for climbers and people who want to take up climbing. The centre includes the Jura Garden, which focuses primarily on vegetation growing on rocks in Franconian Switzerland and throughout the Franconian Jura. This brings together a climbing theme and a nature theme: alongside information about climbing, the garden explores plant life on rocks.
Mountain biking tours are also offered in the Trubach Valley near Obertrubach. The local selection therefore includes not only hiking trails and the Climbing Information Centre, but also an opportunity to explore the valley by mountain bike. The various activities differ in type and in their stated features: for hikes, these include length, circular route type or elevation gain and loss, while the Jura Garden focuses on rock vegetation.
