Eck: Hotels and Accommodation

The standard route to Hoher Göll via Purtschellerhaus is considered a very challenging 6.5-hour mountain tour. It covers 8.8 kilometers and 1,296 meters of elevation gain.

Hiking

Berchtesgaden National Park has 260 kilometers of hiking trails and alpine paths. The network of trails ranges from accessible circular routes to high-alpine peaks. A large part of the trails is in alpine terrain and cannot be traversed in winter without specialized equipment.

From Enzianhütte, one route reaches Eckersattel in about 30 minutes. Another route leads to Purtschellerhaus in about 40 minutes.

Untere Ahornalm can be reached on foot from Obersalzberg. From Untere Ahornalm, a route leads via Eckersattel to Purtschellerhaus and onward to Rossfeld.

Cycling

In Berchtesgaden National Park, cycling is restricted to designated routes. There are no downhill trails or singletracks in the protected area.

The Rossfeld Panoramic Road is used by road cyclists and mountain bikers.

Culture and regional cuisine

The state border between Salzburg and Bavaria runs directly through Purtschellerhaus.

The milk from the cows at Untere Ahornalm is processed into butter and cheese on site. Schüsselkas is a skimmed-milk cheese that is produced particularly on the alpine pastures in the Berchtesgaden area.
