Geographical Location

Bischofswiesen is located at the entrance to the Berchtesgaden valley basin, between Bad Reichenhall to the north and Berchtesgaden to the south.

The municipality comprises the main town of Bischofswiesen and five other municipal districts: Engedey (Bischofswiesen-Engedey), Loipl, Stanggaß, Strub and Winkl. A tourist information office in Bischofswiesen is assigned to Bergerlebnis Berchtesgaden.

The Märchenpfad begins at the Aschauerweiher natural pool and leads into a quiet forest with fairy-tale figures, carved dwarfs and elves, as well as riddles along the way. The circular trail is approximately 2 km long and includes several stations and information boards; it is accessible with a pram, buggy or an all-terrain wheelchair.

Culture and History

Adelsheim Castle is located in the immediate surroundings. Anif Castle and Staufeneck Castle are located in the area around Bischofswiesen; Emsburg Castle is located in the wider regional area.
