Anger offers several distinct points of interest for planning a trip: the Hans-Peter Porsche TraumWerk focuses on model railways, technology and historic tin toys, while a circular trail at Lake Höglwörth adds another option for an outing. Historic churches add architectural history to the picture. When looking for accommodation in Anger, you can weigh these themes against one another: exhibitions and collections, churches, or a walk outdoors.

Technology and Toy Collections

The Hans-Peter Porsche TraumWerk in Anger invites visitors to experience technology, design and tradition. Its model railway layout covers 400 m² and depicts landscapes from Germany, Austria and Switzerland; more than 200 trains run on it. The size of the layout and the three countries it represents give the visit a clear focus on miniature landscapes and train operations.

The TraumWerk also displays historic tin toys: the collection comprises more than 2,100 exhibits from 1860 to 1930. While the model railway layout depicts landscapes from three countries, the tin toys draw attention to individual historic pieces from a specified period. If you are more interested in large-scale models or older toys, you can choose which to focus on.

The two figures cannot be directly compared: 400 m² describes the area of the layout, while the more than 2,100 exhibits indicate the size of the tin toy collection. These are different measures: a miniature landscape in terms of space on the one hand, and the number of historic toys on the other.

The adventure park includes a playground and a park railway. These attractions add two other explicitly named elements to the collections. When planning your visit, you can decide whether to focus primarily on the exhibitions, the model railway, or the playground and park railway.

Churches and Historical Timelines

The Romanesque hall church of St. George on Steinhögl was built in the mid-14th century on the site of a castle chapel. Ashlar blocks from Roman or medieval building remains were used in its construction. A hall church is a church whose main space is designed as a single, continuous hall. St. George thus brings together Romanesque architecture, the former site of a castle chapel and the reuse of older stones.

The pilgrimage chapel of Vachenlueg near Anger tells a different chronological story. When the roof structure collapsed in 1824, the shrine containing the miraculous image remained undamaged; pilgrimages to Vachenlueg subsequently increased. The chapel was completed in 1848. The collapse and the increase in pilgrimages thus both preceded the chapel’s completion.

Lake Höglwörth as a Walking Route

At Lake Höglwörth, the choice is different: the circular trail is flat and wide and is suitable for a walk with a stroller. A walk around the lake takes about half an hour. The approximate duration helps you think of the circular trail as a short activity in its own right; its width and flat route describe the path, while its suitability for strollers identifies a specific use.
