Winter

The Plan du Moulin Express chairlift can be used by pedestrians and mountain bikers to explore the Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves and Les Sybelles area. From the top of the chairlift, trails for pedestrians, mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes, as well as the Croix de Fer bike park and the mountain kart, are accessible.

Nature

Route no. 1 – Malcrozet starts at the tourist office in the village of Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves, leads to Plan du Moulin and returns along a balcony trail above the Arvan River via the Chemin de Sorlinette to the Fromagerie, which produces Beaufort. Route no. 7 – Trail de l'Etendard is a double loop that starts at the tourist office in Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves and returns to the village after crossing the high mountain area around the Ouillon and the Col de la Croix de Fer.

The Circuit des petits lacs leads from the Col de la Croix de Fer to three small high-altitude lakes and offers views of the Aiguilles d'Arves. In Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves, there are opportunities for walks and hikes from the various hamlets; mountain guides are also available for guided themed excursions.

Culture

The Église Saint-Saturnin in Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves was built in 1603 and extended in 1658. It is distinguished by glass-bead funeral crowns that completely cover its façades. The church is open to the public and can be visited individually or in groups, independently or with a guide. It is also part of a protected ensemble in Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves comprising the church, cemetery, former town hall, chapels, crosses and oratory; the listing was made by decree of 13 April 2004.

The walk through the Vallée des Prés Plans leads to the hamlet of Prés Plans with the Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie Chapel. It was built in 1671 and restored in 1855, meaning that it dates from the 17th century. The Musée de la Vie d'Autrefois presents a reconstructed old kitchen in the traditional type of dwelling found in Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves, traditional costumes, tools and old photographs. The museum was founded in 1977 by committed local residents.

Food and Drink

The Fromagerie Coopérative de la Vallée des Arves produces and sells Beaufort AOC. It also offers free tours covering the production and maturation of Beaufort. Groups can participate by reservation; tours take place from Monday to Saturday between 9:00 and 11:30 a.m.

Getting There

Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves can be reached via exit no. 27 at Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne; then follow the signs to the Vallée de l'Arvan. A Sybelles ski bus operates between Saint-Jean-d'Arves and Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves.
