Armoy: Hotels and accommodations

In the municipality of Armoy, the Bois de Ville forest covers 118 hectares on a terrace formed about 10,000 years ago by the retreat of the Rhône Glacier. The long-distance hiking trail GR5 runs through the forest. The fitness trail there comprises four marked and equipped circular routes in the forest, as well as twelve exercise stations. Bois de Ville also offers paths and trails for walkers, joggers, cyclists, horse riders and active sports enthusiasts.

Culture and history

Numerous Roman coins were discovered at the Ermitage in 1863. The church in Armoy is dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Le Lyaud and Trossy were considered hamlets of the parish of Armoy; church services and religious ceremonies were held in this church.

The former gypsum factory in Armoy still has a large brick chimney, a stone building, the identifiable course of a canal and the sites of eight kilns, all of which remain visible. The facility was one of the most important in France and produced up to more than 100,000 hundredweight of gypsum; it can be visited free of charge independently and without a guide.
