La Beaume lies at the foot of the Col de Cabre. In the village stands the Portail Saint Michel, a 14th-century gateway with a pointed arch above which is a round arch added in the 15th century.

Culture and History
The Portail Saint Michel is the only surviving one of the village’s three medieval gates. It provided access to the Saint-Michel priory, located on the opposite bank of the Chauranne stream. The Temple du Villard was built in 1851 and is the largest temple in the Hautes-Alpes département.
The Château d'Agoult includes a tower whose ground floor is made of large, carefully fitted stone blocks. The corners feature rusticated ashlar blocks and are pierced with simple loopholes. A GR trail leads from the Col du Monument to the municipality of Montbrand. A monument at the Col du Monument commemorates young members of the Résistance who were killed by German troops in 1944.
Nature
The peaks of Montagne d'Aureille, Banne and Sommet de Laup are located in the immediate surroundings of La Beaume. The mountain Montagne l'Archier is also nearby. Further afield in the region around La Beaume are the historic site Abbaye de Valcroissant and the Église Saint-Julien church.
Hiking
The red-marked hiking route N°8 «Cascade de la Beaume» starts at the car park in the village of La Beaume next to the motorhome parking area and is 8 km long.
