Culture

Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens hosts cultural events and is a tourist attraction. The central structure dates from the 12th century; above its entrance is a semicircular arch in the Romanesque style. The church was partially rebuilt in the 17th century, and the side chapel was also added during this period.

The “Du Buëch aux vestiges du château” circular trail can be visited free of charge and independently, without a guide, all year round. It connects Aspremont with the castle and offers two access points: via Rue du Reclus or from the village beside the bar. It also crosses the Andronne de la Cure to the gardens on the edge of the village.

History

Notre-Dame de Suane has been a heavily frequented pilgrimage site since the Middle Ages and is considered the parish’s mother church in Aspremont. The church offers sweeping views over the plain of Thuoux and the Dévoluy.

The Château d’Aspremont stands on a rocky spur overlooking the valleys. The hill behind it offers 360-degree views over the Buëch Valley. A restored arch in the complex is considered to be an underground entrance leading to the castle.

Nature

Near Aspremont, the Buëch is an alpine river with Mediterranean influences. It is characterized by gravel banks and several interwoven channels, is known for its trout, and offers anglers suitable conditions for fishing.
