Ceillac: Hotels and accommodations

Ceillac’s natural ice-climbing area is easily accessible from the Mélèzet car park at the foot of the alpine ski slopes. Cristal Salace, however, is located in the Vallon des Pelouses; the difficulty levels range from 3 to 5+.

At Ceillac’s biathlon stadium, which operates year-round, beginners aged 8 and over can try biathlon under the guidance of certified instructors. The 550 m-long via ferrata has an elevation gain of 315 m. It is freely accessible year-round; from the car park at the start of the approach, it is a ten-minute walk to the starting point. The Via Corda requires mountaineering skills and is reserved for specialists. The Tête en l’air paragliding school in the Queyras offers tandem flights and courses.

Nature

A marked hiking trail to Lac Miroir is signposted as taking two hours to climb, with an elevation gain of 550 m. The official Tour du Queyras includes a stage from Ceillac to Saint-Véran via the Col des Estronques. Fishing is possible in the Mélézet stream in the Ceillac valley.

Culture

The present-day building of the Sainte-Cécile church, which is now used as a chapel, dates from the late 14th or early 15th century. The traditional residential architecture of the Ceillac valley is compact and rather austere in appearance. The buildings are often laid out in an L-shape; larch wood is used mainly in the upper structural elements, such as the roof frame, barn gable and roof.

The Montdauphin-Guillestre SNCF railway station is 20 km from Ceillac and is connected to the village by ZOU shuttles.
