Péone: Hotels and Accommodation
Péone is located in a mountainous landscape, with a large part of the municipality lying within the core zone of Mercantour National Park. Above the village, Tête de Méric is a secondary summit of Mercantour; from there, views extend to the towers of Lac d’Allos, the peaks of the Vallée des Merveilles, the Val d’Entraunes and the Gorges du Daluis.

Nature
The Aiguilles next to the old village of Péone are rock formations made of Triassic dolomite. In the Aiguilles above the village, visible remains of a fortification belonging to the former Château de Péone, probably dating from the 13th century, have been preserved.
The Sentier du Patrimoine in Péone is a very easy 0.5 km circular walk with 28 m of elevation gain and a stated duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. The route starts and ends at the Pont de Péone and is equipped with its own signage as well as several explanatory panels.
The Circuit de Septenne passes through numerous alpine meadows and barns, which bear traces of the formerly intensive agro-pastoral activity. A hike from Péone through the Tuébi Valley leads to two bunkers and the cross at the Col de Crous at an elevation of 2,202 m; the strategic location of the facility there is associated with the Maginot Line.
Culture
The Baroque Church of Saint-Vincent et Saint-Arige in Péone dates from 1761. Since 1948, it has been listed in the French inventory of historic monuments.
The Saint-Vincent patronal festival takes place every year on the last weekend of August and includes a week of festivities centred on local traditions. The programme of one event includes a tasting of Agnocous, a typical dish.
The ruins of Péone Castle are difficult to access for a visit; for safety reasons, it is recommended to remain on the marked path.
The half-timbered façades of Péone are considered a distinctive feature; they are exceptional among the built-up settlements of the Alpes-Maritimes département. The Pigeonnier-rucher of Péone is a circular tower built entirely of local pink rammed earth. According to the date at the entrance, it dates back at least to 1679.
The former Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs in Péone is a deconsecrated chapel that has been converted into a venue for temporary exhibitions and conferences.
