Culture and History
The present-day Église Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité in Clans is classified as a historic monument and was built from 1680 onwards. Its façade is designed in the classical style.
The Chapelle Saint-Jean is entirely decorated with works by the artist Moya. The Chapelle Saint-Antoine is classified as a historic building. Clans is also home to a 16th-century grain mill.
Nature and Trails
The Traversée du Valdeblore mountain bike route runs from La Colmiane at an altitude of 1,500 metres to Pont de Clans at 300 metres. Along its full route, it passes through eight villages, including Clans.
The hiking trails around Clans can be reached on foot or by electric bicycle and lead to one of the department’s most beautiful forests. Clans is also home to a natural swimming lake that is unique in the valley.
Local Life
From April to December, Clans hosts a market of local producers and craftspeople on the first Saturday of each month. The Aïoli Festival takes place around 17 August.
Getting There
Pont de Clans is 68 km from Nice Airport. The route follows the RM 6202 through the Var Valley and then the RM 2205 through the Tinée Valley.
