Winter and Mountain Sports

ESF Les Agudes-Peyragudes offers lessons in alpine skiing, snowboarding, telemark, freestyle, off-piste skiing, ski touring and snowshoeing. The program includes private and group lessons; groups are also accepted.

Snowshoe hikes and ski tours are signposted on a marked trail in Gouaux-de-Larboust. A snowshoe hike to the Cabane du Bout du Bois begins on the Agudes side of the Peyragudes resort and leads through the wintry mountain landscape.

Nature and Trails

Gouaux-de-Larboust is a starting point for hikes to Lac d'Oô and to Espingo, Saussat and Portillon. Lac de Boum de Soulas is a small high-altitude lake in the Peyragudes area between the Louron and Larboust valleys. It is easily accessible from Les Agudes and is suitable for a family hike or mountain fishing.

At the upper end of the Lac chairlift, the hike to Lac du Boum features a panoramic terrace with a 360-degree view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Val d'Esquierry is known for its flora. In addition, the “Haute montagne en Haute-Garonne” nature area also includes the municipality of Gouaux-de-Larboust.

The Cabane du Bout du Bois is an old shepherd's hut located on the boundary between the forest and grazing areas. The hike there is a family hike during which visitors discover the forest and grazing areas of Larboust.

Cycling Activities

The Chemin des Coustasses is a family trail that begins at the town hall of Gouaux-de-Larboust and passes through the grazing areas to the Les Agudes resort of Peyragudes. The mountain bike route “PL 18 – La Traversée du Larboust” begins in Les Agudes and follows this trail downhill to the cemetery of Gouaux-de-Larboust.

The Peyragudes bike park offers downhill runs on prepared trails accessible via Skyvall and the Privilège and du Lac chairlifts. “PLB – Blue Wave Agudes” is an enduro descent that begins at the upper end of the du Lac chairlift. “PLZ – Zone Ludique Agudes” is a practice course where riders can safely get used to more challenging descents by negotiating several turns.

Culture and Village Character

Gouaux-de-Larboust is considered a mountain village with traditional houses made of stone and wood, as well as slate roofs. The village church bell dates from 1509 and is classified as a protected object among the Monuments historiques; the protection was declared on July 11, 1942.
