The Belvédère de la Madone offers a remarkable view of the village of Les Bouchoux and the Tacon Valley, through which the river of the same name flows.
History and townscape
The Prieuré de Cuttura was founded in 1190 by the lords of Chatillon-en-Michaille and transferred to the ownership of the Abbey of Saint-Claude in 1231.
Today, the Prieuré de Cuttura retains a tower, which was converted into an oratory in 1942, as well as the remains of the former priory house.
The site of the Moulin d’Aval waterfall, also known as Moulin Dalloz, has been listed in the landscape inventory since 1961.
The present-day church of Les Bouchoux was built in 1718. Its entrance portal dates from the 16th or 17th century; there are inscriptions above the entrance.
The village square of Les Bouchoux can host cultural events requiring only minimal amplification.
