Local character and history

Nová Chřibská is home to numerous examples of North Bohemian folk architecture, including log houses with the characteristic element known as a podstávka. At the same time, the village has largely preserved its settlement character.

In 2014, a monument honoring 21 citizens of Nová Chřibská who fell on the battlefields of the First World War was restored. The park belonging to the monument was reconstructed in 2015; the stone walls were renewed, hand-hewn stone posts were made and installed, garden furniture was acquired, and the landscaping of the park was completed. The monument is located approximately 200 m below the railway crossing, on the left-hand side when traveling from Chřibská to Rybniště, opposite the bus stop.

A large steam-powered sawmill was established in Nová Chřibská in 1890; its owner was Rudolf Zimmer.

Landscape

The Nová Chřibská landscape character area forms the transition between the Krásnolipsko-Podluží and Kytlicko-Chřibsko landscape character areas. Nová Chřibská is characterized by highly varied topography; the built-up area transitions into areas with tree vegetation as well as meadows and pastures.

Nová Chřibská lies within the Lužické hory Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Lužické hory), where Zone III predominates. The village has watercourses and small bodies of water with accompanying vegetation. Velký rybník features a water surface with adjacent reed beds, wet, marshy, and waterlogged meadows, wet alder stands, willow thickets, and an important migration route for birds.

Transport and cycling routes

Road II/263 forms the transport axis of Nová Chřibská. Regional cycle route CT 211 (Šluknovská) includes Section 12 near Nová Chřibská. In the context of the host municipality of Rybniště, important regional cycle routes run through the area and connect to cycle routes in Bohemian Switzerland and Saxon Switzerland.
