A distinctive landmark of MalÅ¡Ãn is Thumberg Chapel, which is also a cultural monument. Grille doors allow visitors to look inside the small church building.
Culture and History
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and its enclosing wall are listed as cultural monuments. The former early Gothic Church of St. Margaret, now the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was rebuilt in 1593, remodeled in the Baroque style at the end of the 17th century, and altered again in the second half of the 19th century. Its sacristy clearly dates from the second half of the 13th century; the former Church of St. Margaret was first mentioned in writing in 1339. The pilgrimage chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was built on Turmberg in 1856 and stands 450 m south of the church.
Traces on Turmberg
Remains of a rampart that surrounded the former tower or castle complex can be seen in the area around Turmberg. At the site of the former guard castle near Thumberg Chapel, there are two benches with views to the south. There is also a covered rest-area shelter with a waste bin. From Tumberg, there is an extensive view to the south over a hilly, wooded landscape with meadows.

About half of MalÅ¡Ãn’s cadastral area is forested; a large part of the area is used for agriculture as meadows and pastures.
Cycling Routes
Several routes pass through or over MalÅ¡Ãn: the Krumlovská cycle path runs via MalÅ¡Ãn, while Velotrail 1–Frymbursko passes through MalÅ¡Ãn. MalÅ¡Ãn is also located on the 42.3 km-long VyÅ¡Å¡Ã Brod–MalÅ¡Ãn–Frymburk–HoÅ™ice na Å umavÄ› cycle route.
