Nature and Water
During the summer months, swimming is permitted at your own risk in the fire-water reserve in Loužnice. It is fed by the Plchovský stream, which flows through a protected area.
Geographical Setting
The Kopaňský stream flows through the Loužnice valley along its entire length and divides the municipality into two parts. Mill No. 1 on the Kopaňský stream, a left tributary of the Žernovník, is located on the northern edge of Loužnice; the course of the mill race and its banks are clearly visible in the terrain. State Road No. 10/E65 from Prague to Harrachov also runs along the Kopaňský stream.
History and Crafts
In 1894, there were several costume-jewelry businesses in Loužnice. These included the Link family factory, where glass rods were processed into beads. Shortly before the First World War, bead pressing at furnaces was introduced in Loužnice. In Kopani, there was a facility for grinding glass rings, locally known as Bengle.
Community Life and Sacred Sites
The Sokolovna cultural center in Loužnice has existed since 1963. Its rooms are suitable for cultural events, dances, discos, theater and film screenings, lectures, exhibitions, sporting events, and gymnastics classes. The municipal library is regularly housed in the Sokolovna cultural center in Loužnice.
The bell tower of Loužnice was rebuilt and renovated and was consecrated on September 28, 2014, together with a statue of Saint Wenceslas carved from the fallen linden tree. The small sacred complex in Loužnice is considered the municipality’s only sacred structure. The Loužnický Betlém has been made by Bedřich Rathouský since 2017.
