Horní Kalná: Hotels and Accommodation

One of the notable points of interest in Horní Kalná is the Horní Kalná–kalenský obzor geological site. It can be accessed without restrictions; by car, you can get to within 250 metres.

Nature and Views

Horní Kalná is home to the “Houpačka u kříže mezi lány” swing, which is part of the “Houpačky z hor” project. In good visibility, Sněžka can be seen on the horizon from there. The route along the ridge near Příčnice also offers views of the Krkonoše panorama.

Walking and Cycling Route

The Horní Kalná Viewpoint Trail runs for 3 km from the settlement of Příčnice to the forest near Na Lánech; it can also be reached from Kunčice nad Labem. The Prášivka Trail descends to Horní Kalná, where several small monuments can be found in the village.

The 22-km circular cycling route “Z Martinic do Branné a zase zpět” also passes through Horní Kalná. The route runs through Martinice v Krkonoších, Horní Branná, Dolní Branná and Horní Kalná.

Religious Monuments

Numerous religious monuments have been preserved in Horní Kalná, including chapels, wayside shrines, stone crosses, statues of saints, bell towers and a memorial to the victims of the First World War.

A glazed Pietà statue stands at one wayside shrine. It was erected in 1879 at the expense of Jan and Anna Kodym. A statue of Our Lady of the Rosary stands by house number 112 on the road to the summit.

Next to the school stands a cross from 1819 with faded depictions of saints. At the place called U Třech svatých, there is a statue of Saint Joseph with the Christ Child.

Village Life in Winter

In the lower part of Horní Kalná, there is a freely accessible grass field and a paved area. In winter conditions, the paved area can be used as an ice-skating rink.

Every year, Horní Kalná hosts the “Bronzová kopačka Horní Kalné” nohejbal tournament for a traveling trophy.
