Nature

The Adršpašsko–Teplické Rocks are considered the largest and wildest rock town in Central Europe. In Babiččino údolí, a harmonious cultural landscape preserves remnants of natural vegetation as well as part of the chateau complex associated with Božena Němcová’s “The Grandmother.” The educational trail through Babiččino údolí is more than seven kilometers long and includes 25 stops. The Bathildina Trail connects the chateau grounds of Ratibořice with Babiččino údolí.

At 773 meters, Božanovský Špičák is the highest peak of the Broumovské stěny; there is a marked circular trail there. Near Hvězda in the Broumovské stěny area, the Baroque Chapel of Our Lady of the Snow was built according to a design by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.

The trails in the Broumovské stěny and on Ostaš are not maintained in winter; access is at your own risk.

Culture

Tours of Ratibořice Chateau are guided and last approximately 45 minutes. Texts in foreign languages are available, and the exhibition on the ground floor is accessible. Klášter Broumov was rebuilt into its current Baroque form in the 17th century. Klášter Broumov’s medieval monastic scriptorium offers interactive tours.

The fortification system of Dobrošov comprises three completed blockhouses and 56 additional structures. The chateau garden in Nové Město nad Metují is reminiscent of Italian Baroque gardens and contains Art Nouveau elements. The garden of Klášter Broumov is open to the public free of charge.

Cycling

The regional cycling network is marked throughout the terrain and includes information boards and rest areas. The 31-kilometer Dolní Metuje cycling route connects Josefov, Peklo, and Náchod. Cycling route 4036 runs mainly along paved field and forest roads; some sections follow third-class roads.

Getting there

The railway station is located directly in front of the entrance to Adršpašské skály. Klášter Broumov is located near bus and train stops. One stop is approximately 250 meters from the entrance to Adršpašské skály.
