Herink: Hotels and Accommodations

During a rescue excavation in the area of the Čistička station within the cadastral territory of Herink, settlement traces were discovered at the archaeological site. The oldest settlement identified there dates from the 6th to 5th century BC; the remains of large above-ground wooden structures, pottery fragments, and a glass bead were also uncovered.

History and Village Life

Part of Na Hrázi Street was formerly the dam of the largest of several ponds in Herink. It held back water from the Osnický stream and the surrounding fields.

The V topolech pond, also known as Na obci, was once a meeting place for the entire village: witches were burned here, people went ice-skating in winter, and neighborhood gatherings around a fire were held in summer. In suitable weather, young people from the entire surrounding area went swimming there.

A chapel was built on Staré návsi in 1908 next to a granite cross. Even today, it is considered a worthwhile destination for walks. In Tvrzka, earthworks were discovered during maintenance of the streambed in the 1930s.

Walks and Nature

The municipal activity “Máme rádi Herink” is an entertaining, educational walk through the village. At the stations marked on a map, QR code signs display information, images, or maps related to the respective location.

Lípa u transformátoru in Herink is a protected solitary tree; it was first designated as such on January 25, 1983.

The Práče Fortress is located in the vicinity of Herink. Also in the vicinity are Petrovy vrchy [Popovičky - Chomutovice], Skalka [Strančice-Předboř], and (Na Padesátce) [Petříkov u Velkých Popovic], each a named hill. Veslařský ostrov is a named island in the vicinity of Herink.

In the wider regional surroundings of Herink are Palác Kinských and The Golz-Kinsky Palace, both palaces, as well as Galerie Rudolfinum, a museum.
