ADAC SkiGuide 2011 names the most family-friendly ski areas
As every year, the ADAC is once again publishing its popular SkiGuide in time for the upcoming ski holiday season, as it has done in previous years (as we reported). Winter holidaymakers appreciate the latest tips and trends for individual ski areas and winter sports resorts. In the current edition, “ADAC SkiGuide 2011,” now available in stores or directly from the ADAC, the best ski areas are once again selected in the customary way, taking into account the categories of alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, family-friendliness and “Rising Star of the Year.”

Family-friendly ski areas: the winners of the ADAC SkiGuide 2011
In the new ADAC SkiGuide 2011, the authors present the most family-friendly ski regions in five European countries. In Austria, the ski area in the Stubai Valley won the ADAC SkiGuide 2011 award for the country’s most family-friendly ski region. In the Stubai Valley, children up to the age of ten can enjoy the slopes free of charge. From age 11, a child’s ski pass costs a fair €19.50. The Stubai Valley also offers a children’s practice and play area right on the glacier, where young skiers will never be bored. The Stubai Valley is family-friendly when it comes to accommodation prices, too: a week of winter holiday in a holiday apartment in the Stubai Valley, including four six-day ski passes, is available at moderate prices.
German ski areas
Among Germany’s ski areas, Reit im Winkl impressed the ADAC SkiGuide authors. Here, skiing is free for children up to the age of six. The winter sports resort of Oberstdorf offers family-friendly accommodation prices, while families who book a ski holiday in Oberstaufen can include accommodation and ski passes in the price. What’s more, admission to swimming pools and museums in Oberstaufen is free for guests who book these “family packages.”
