Landscape
In the lower part of Jongny, there are 4 hectares of vineyards, including 3,500 m² owned by the municipality. The municipal vineyard is tended by a vigneron-tâcheron.
Walkers and visitors appreciate the view over the Lake Geneva basin from the Chatillon welcome area.
Nature
Jongny has 15 hectares of municipal woodland. The wooded area of Bois de Reule is characterised by beech and fir trees; paths and trails used by hikers run through it.
History and Culture
Archaeological evidence suggests that Jongny was a passage between the Rhône Valley and Avenches in Roman times. The Sentier romain and the Chemin romain are considered possible remnants of the Roman route through Jongny.
The historic bell of Jongny was made by Pierre Mouron from Chardonne. It bears a Latin invocation dating from 1504.
Other Features
The Refuge de Reule is fully equipped and can be rented from April to the end of October. Facilities include a kitchen, dishwasher and barbecue; it can accommodate up to 45 people.
The Refuge de Reule can be reached on VMCV bus route 13 via the La Chaudette stop. Regional VMCV route 213 connects Vevey, Jongny, Monts-de-Corsier and Châtel-St-Denis.
