The Rougemont gondola lift takes visitors to La Videmanette at an altitude of over 2,100 metres. At 7.5 kilometres, it is home to the longest ski run in the region.
Winter
The gondola lift is about a seven-minute walk from Rougemont railway station; the station is served by the MOB line. When preparing your stay in Rougemont, you may wish to find accommodation there.
Hiking
The Rougemont–Château-d’Œx route via Siernes Picat is 11.9 kilometres long and takes approximately 3 hours 45 minutes. It passes alpine farms that produce L’Etivaz AOP cheese.
On the 1.5-kilometre-long Balade sur les traces du Passé, paper cut-outs by Louis Saugy are displayed along the circular route. Rougemont is also home to a Louis Saugy trail dedicated to the master of paper cutting.
The La Sarine au Pays-d’Enhaut hike begins in Rougemont and leads through landscapes shaped by mountain farming and regional history. The Via L’Etivaz AOP follows historic paths once used to transport cheese from the alpine pastures to Rougemont or L’Etivaz.
The ruins of Vanel can be reached on foot from the centre of Rougemont via hiking trail 11.
Culture and history
Rougemont has carved wooden houses; some examples have a history spanning more than 400 years. The Grenier de Marie dates from 1688.
Rougemont church is open for free visits. It is listed as a Swiss cultural property of national significance.
