Culture and history
The Château de Coinsins was built around 1715 by Jean Louis de Portes. Prehistoric hearths containing Late Bronze Age pottery were discovered near the Route de Trélex in Coinsins. Burgundian graves were uncovered on Martheray Hill.
Wine and landscape
The vineyard hillside landscape is one of Coinsins’ defining features and is protected by municipal regulations. Wine tastings are available on request at Domaine des Papillons at Cordex 3. The Domaine Z wine shop is located at Ch. du Grand-Pré 4 in Coinsins.
Coinsins is located in the La Côte wine-growing region. It is the largest wine-growing region in Vaud, covers more than 1,900 hectares and is considered the home of Chasselas wine. The Route du vignoble de La Côte, a cycle route through the wine-growing landscape, also passes through the wine-growing village.
Nature and trails
The Bois de Chênes stretches across the area between Genolier, Coinsins, Begnins, Vich and Arzier-Le Muids. The area covers almost 140 hectares and is home to many rare and protected species. The Sentier des Toblerones runs along the Bois de Chênes towards Lake Geneva and Promenthoux beach.
The Bois de Chênes is promoted as a place for walks in nature and offers spots for family picnics and barbecues. It can be reached by train via Genolier or by bus via Vich.
