Leuk town is located in the Swiss Rhône Valley on the northern bank of the river, east of the confluence of the Dala and Rotten rivers. History
Leuk was a center of the Reformation in Valais. The municipality was first documented in 515 under the name villa de Leuca and had already been settled in pre-Roman times.
Leuk has a historical relationship with the Gemmi Pass, access to which the town controlled.
