Nature
Susten forms the entrance to the Pfynwald nature reserve. Pfynwald has been officially protected since 1997, is one of the largest contiguous pine forests in the Alps and is known for its high biodiversity. The Pfyn-Finges area stretches from Gampel to Sierre.
Illgraben is a national research area because of its geological activity. The 134-metre-long Bhutan Bridge crosses the Illgraben and was built in 2002 in cooperation with Bhutan.

Routes
The Valais Wine Trail begins in Susten. The moderately difficult Valais Alpine Bike 1 route is approximately 26.11 kilometres long, takes around 3 hours and 20 minutes, and ends in Leuk/Susten. From Susten or Leuk, cyclists can ride the Dala Bärgüf route.
The Sierre–Illgraben–Pont Bouthanais–Leuk/Susten hike ends at the SBB railway station in Leuk/Susten.
Culture
Susten's parish church of St. Theresia was built in 1949 according to plans by Markus and Dionys Burgener. The 1951 choir wall painting depicts Jesus as the Good Shepherd with St. Thérèse and Brother Klaus. Since 1986/87, the parish church of St. Theresia has had a coffered wooden ceiling.
