The name Torre is associated with Curtero Castle. It replaced Serravalle Castle, which was destroyed after the Battle of Legnano.

Geographical Location

Torre is a frazione of the Swiss municipality of Blenio in the Blenio District of the Canton of Ticino. The settlement is recorded at an elevation of 760–768 metres above sea level.

History

The Pact of Torre was signed here in February 1182. It created an alliance between the inhabitants of Blenio, Leventina and Riviera against Alcherio da Torre.
