Dangio: Hotels and accommodations

Culture

The old Santo Stefano Church in Dangio dates back to the 12th century. After a fire, it was rebuilt in 1732; its Romanesque bell tower also dates back to the 12th century. The bell tower of Santo Stefano has five levels separated by a jagged frieze.

A Madonna del latte dating from 1495 can be seen on the façade of Casa Baltera, 100 metres from the church. Fragments of 15th-century frescoes have been preserved beside a side entrance of the old church. In the Blenio Valley, mountain-farming specialties are also well worth sampling.

Hiking

The Blenio Valley has a 500-kilometre network of well-marked trails for hikers. Historic paths are uniformly marked in brown and equipped with orientation and themed information boards. There are easy routes on the valley floor that can be used almost all year round.

Landscape and connections

Mountain farming has transformed the Blenio Valley into a scenically attractive landscape. The road over the Lucomagno Pass connects the Blenio Valley with Disentis/Sedrun; it is considered passable all year round.
