Les Bois lies at an altitude of 1,035 metres above sea level on the Jura high plateau of the southwestern Franches-Montagnes, on a gently south-facing slope.
Nature
The municipality of Les Bois encompasses gently rolling Jura high plateau terrain with marshy depressions, most of which have no surface drainage, as well as limestone hills. The Jura high plateau around Les Bois forms an extensive pasture area interspersed with large, isolated or grouped spruce trees.
The northwestern municipal boundary follows the deeply incised, gorge-like valley of the Doubs. Rock bands lie on its wooded slopes. To the west, the municipal area extends as far as the erosion valley of Combe du Valanvron, which joins the Doubs Valley at Biaufond.
Geographical Setting
Le Gros Crêt and Petit Crêt are located in the vicinity of Les Bois. In the wider regional area are La Tène, Tablettes and Montagne de Boudry.
