Geographical Location
The village of Peist is situated on a sunny slope around 250 metres above the Plessur and approximately 100 metres above the Chur–Arosa railway line. This clearly places the village between the river and the railway connection in the valley.
The former municipality of Peist extends from the Plessur River across a slope cut by gorges to the Hochwang range. Cunggel and the Mattjisch Horn are part of it.

In 2013, Peist joined the municipality of Arosa as part of a merger of several formerly independent municipalities.
