Saxeten: Hotels and Accommodation

Saxeten has a toboggan run approximately four kilometres long. The toboggan run is preceded by an approximately one-hour walk from Saxeten and from the Skipintli Restaurant to Alp Nessleren, passing mostly frozen waterfalls along the way.

Hiking and Landscape

Saxeten maintains a network of hiking and mountain hiking trails ranging from a circular route along the Saxetenbach marked with forest trail signs to more challenging mountain tours. Also listed as a hiking option is a route leading from Saxeten via Bällenhöchst and Sulsseeli to the Lobhornhütte SAC and onwards to Isenfluh and Lauterbrunnen.

Geographical Location

Saxeten lies above Wilderswil at approximately 1,130 metres above sea level. The village belongs to the Lütschinen valleys because the Saxetbach flows into the Lütschine.

Nature and Culture

Numerous springs originate in the upper valley basin of Saxeten. Saxeten is an almost traffic-free mountain village in an untouched high valley.

The Ramsermatte cultural landscape received the Oberland-Ost Cultural Landscape Award in 2012. Its wet and dry habitats provide a home for a high diversity of species, including many butterflies.

The Rugenbräu brewery in Matten uses Saxet water to produce beer.

Getting There

Saxeten can be reached by car from the Wilderswil motorway exit in approximately 15 minutes. From Wilderswil, PostBus route 111 is also available for travel towards Saxeten.
