Ulricehamn is located inland in western Sweden, between Borås and Jönköping. When choosing a destination, you can weigh several interests: hiking trails of varying lengths, activities by Åsunden, cultural history and sports in Lassalyckan. In winter, there are ski trails for different ability levels. These different highlights give you concrete points to consider when planning.

Trails and scenery

The Blå stigen hiking trail runs through Ulricehamn and is 4.1 kilometres long. The Lassalyckan Trail loop is about 6.7 kilometres; the Åsundenleden runs for 49 kilometres around Åsunden. The routes therefore differ considerably in length. Along with its longer loop, the Åsundenleden offers varied scenery: it passes through an agricultural and forestry landscape, goes by two nature reserves and provides views of the lake at several points. If you want to consider the route’s length as well as scenery and lake views when hiking, these are concrete features of this trail.

Sports and ski trails in Lassalyckan

Lassalyckan is a municipal sports and recreation facility with good training opportunities all year round. Its paths and trails are used for running, skiing, mountain biking and walking; there are also illuminated running tracks. The ski trails cater to different ability levels, from competitive athletes to families with children. For a group with varying expectations, this range is a useful point of comparison; choose a trail to suit the people in your group.

There are sports activities in Lassalyckan beyond the ski trails, too: a wakeboard park with obstacles is located in one of the ponds. Ulricehamns Golfklubb’s golf course is at the highest point in Ulricehamn, next to the Lassalyckan sports and outdoor recreation area. The range of sports on offer therefore includes different activities rather than focusing on a single discipline.

Åsunden: swimming, water and lake views

Åsunden is used for swimming, fishing, paddling and boating. There are several different places to go for bathing spots and views of the shore. Prången is within walking distance of the centre and has a sandy beach. Sturebadet is near the centre, at the northern end of Åsunden; from there, you can see across the northern part of the lake. Ulricaparken is a playground by Åsunden. Its grounds also include a bathing spot with a bathing jetty and sandy beach. You can choose according to your priorities: a sandy beach at Prången, lake views at Sturebadet, or a playground and bathing spot at Ulricaparken.

Cultural history and exhibitions

Six historic buildings stand in Stadsparken, built as a miniature version of Skansen. The municipal exhibition venue is in Rådhuset, at Stora torget. The town hall was built in 1789 and 1790 and also served as a school until 1914. Ulricehamn’s art and museum collection comprises more than 6,000 objects, most of which date from the 18th and 19th centuries. The public can explore the collection mainly online, as well as through smaller exhibitions at other locations in the municipality.

Other buildings also tell the story of the town. The former station house opened in 1906, when the railway to Falköping began operating; it has been protected as a listed building since 1991. Folkets hus was built between 1903 and 1905 on Nygatan, east of the town centre, and later became closely connected with the labour movement and its organisations. Films are shown in two cinema halls at Folkets hus. A mural at the corner of Färgaregränd and Storgatan depicts Ada Nilsson. On the shore of Åsunden stands Vattenverket, built in 1914: its National Romantic style gives the architecture the appearance of a medieval church.

Then compare the location of the specific hotel with your own plans for each day.
