Ulricehamn: Trails in Lassalyckan and paths around Åsunden

Lassalyckan has paths and trails that can be used both in summer and winter. Ulricehamn also has 70 kilometres of car-free, paved paths along former railway lines. Marked mountain bike trails with varying levels of difficulty are available for cycling tours. Lassalyckan also has a pump track with jumps and ramps on a hilly wooden course. The Ulricehamn Tourist Information Office provides maps of local cycling and hiking trails.

Winter and trails

Åsundenleden is a hiking trail of approximately 49 kilometres around Lake Åsunden. It passes the Korpeboberg and Kråkebo nature reserves. Another trail, Björnöleden, runs through Komosse Nature Reserve, one of the largest wetland areas in southern Sweden. Galtåsenleden leads to Galtåsen, the highest point in Västergötland, at 362 metres above sea level.

Nature

Vattenverket in Ulricehamn is located near Lake Åsunden and is now surrounded by a natural area with a waterfront promenade. Canoes or Canadian canoes can be rented at the Prången bathing area. There is a bathing area with a jetty and sandy beach at Ulricaparken.

History and culture

Ulricehamn has medieval origins and was formerly called Bogesund. Six buildings of cultural and historical significance stand in Stadsparken. Historic buildings were moved to Stadsparken between 1910 and 1948, most of them during the first seven years. The preserved station building in Ulricehamn still conveys an impression of what the town looked like when rail transport was the most important means of transportation. Ulricehamns stationshus is a castle-like railway station building dating from 1906.

Gamla Vattenverket is a building constructed in 1914 in the National Romantic style. Its original machinery is still functioning. Folkets Hus hosts opera and theatre performances as well as numerous films. Folkets Hus is a more than 100-year-old building that has largely been preserved in its original condition. A mural depicting Ada Nilsson can be found at the corner of Färgaregränd and Storgatan.

Water and leisure

Ulricehamn's cold bath house on Lake Åsunden offers cold bathing. All treatments at the cold bath house include a dip in Lake Åsunden and use of the sauna. Sturebadet is located near the centre of Ulricehamn; the cold bath house and bus station are among the facilities nearby.

Sim- och sporthallen offers swimming, baby swimming, mini swimming and water aerobics. It has two pools and a water play area. The skate park is open to the public every day of the week. Through Ungas fritid, skateboards, scooters and protective equipment can be borrowed free of charge for trying out the skate park.

The Ulricaparken playground offers, among other things, an obstacle course, a climbing net and a zip line.
