Ráztočno: Accommodation, Hiking Trails and Rock Vistas

Ráztočno lies in the Handlová foothills of the Upper Nitra Basin, at the southern foot of the Žiar Mountains and in the valley of the Handlovka stream. A marked blue hiking trail connects Ráztočno and Sklené over 9 km. The hike from Remata near Ráztočno to Bralová skala has a different starting point and different trail markings: it is moderately difficult, marked red and yellow, 1.6 km long and takes approximately 45 minutes. In favorable weather, Bralová skala offers views of the town of Handlová, the Turiec Basin and the mountain ranges of Malá Fatra, the Kremnica Mountains and Vtáčnik. The Hájska skala rock vista can be reached via the blue-marked trail in the direction of Ráztočno and offers views of the municipalities in the Handlová Valley. A publicly accessible cave of the same name lies below Hájska skala. The hikes differ in their destination and trail-marking color.

Cycling Trails

The Bojnický cyklookruh and Rematská spojka cycling routes run through the cadastral territory of the municipality of Ráztočno. The Bojnický cycling route passes through Ráztočno between Remata and Nedožery-Brezany. These add independently named cycling connections alongside the hiking routes.

Culture and Events

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Ráztočno was originally built between 1280 and 1300 as an Early Gothic church. Vertical sundials are located on its southern wall. Their dial is divided into full hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the sundials probably date from around 1667. The construction period and the sundials belong to the same church building.

Every year, Ráztočno hosts the Beh SNP race with international participation.

Railway

On the Prievidza–Horná Štubňa railway line, Ráztočno and Remäta are the only two stops where tickets are not sold.
