Culture and History

A cultural and historical trace in Vyškovce nad Ipľom leads to the Baroque Church of St Margaret of Antioch. It dates from 1700. Remains of a Gothic church from the early 14th century were used in its construction. The remains used therefore predate the Baroque building by several centuries. The Baroque construction period and the reused Gothic building remains thus represent two historical layers.

The local cultural heritage list includes the Chapel of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, dating from 1850. A permanent exhibition in Vyškovce nad Ipľom is dedicated to presenting and collecting cultural and historical monuments, as well as heritage from the municipality and its surroundings. The chapel stands as an individual religious building alongside an exhibition that collects and presents monuments and inherited heritage within a broader municipal and surrounding context. The castle of Vyškovce nad Ipľom is also part of the local history; it may have been built between 1303 and 1312. The manor house was originally a late-Renaissance building constructed at the end of the 17th century. The municipal office and registry office are located in the manor house.

The Tradičný dom and the obecný skanzen are scheduled to undergo the renovation of several exhibition rooms. The plan includes restoring the interiors, floors, walls, and window and door elements. Authentic furniture and display cases will also be added. The aim is to preserve the cultural heritage and make the exhibition accessible to the public. The building, interior, and presentation are being considered together as part of this project.

According to local history, the VIII Army from Pannonia was stationed on the summit of present-day Mahér. Excavations carried out there are cited as confirmation of this.

Water and Events

A water reservoir where fishing is possible is located in the cadastral area of Vyškovce nad Ipľom. In addition, technical and material basic equipment was acquired in Vyškovce nad Ipľom to expand water tourism on the Ipeľ River. Four information points with twelve signposts were also established in Vyškovce nad Ipľom. Current information about routes or traffic may also be checked for signposts and information points.
